Your ID card and alias
Each Applicant is issued an identity card bearing a photograph drawn by the Bureau. Amendments may be requested. Photographs may not be supplied.
Your applicant number is your identity. It is issued once and cannot be changed.
You may also file an alias, shown beside your number, as in Applicant 0123, a.k.a. "Doris". It is optional, and it need not be unique.
- It is 2 to 20 characters: letters, numbers, spaces, hyphens, apostrophes and periods, starting with a letter or a number.
- It cannot be only a number, since numbers are issued by the Bureau, and it cannot pose as the Bureau or its staff.
- It must get past the Bureau's list of words it will not print.
Leave it empty to be known by number alone.
Your ID photo is drawn by the Bureau. On the Your ID card page you choose its parts and colors, and Issue me another deals a fresh one. Some parts open at higher grades. You cannot upload a picture.
Your profile is what other Applicants see when they tap your number: your card, rank, Matter, hearings, intake day, Registry places, how far along each floor you are, recent and rare certificates, your pockets and your personal effects. Never your name or email address, and never the title of a certificate that is not listed.
