Matters
The Bureau says
Each Applicant is assigned one Matter on filing. The Matter is pending. It will remain pending.
In plain language
Your Matter is the business you came to the Bureau about: an Appeal Against a Tuesday, perhaps, or an Application to Renew a Shadow. There are six. One is assigned to you when you take a number, and it is at the top of Your File.
It does three things.
- It makes the building personal. Some things answer to you differently than to Applicants with another Matter. Your File lists your personal details. They matter more than they look.
- It has certificates of its own. A few can be earned only by Applicants with your Matter. They are on the journal's Building page, under For your Matter. Read their titles against your Matter.
- It is being heard. Slowly. See Hearings and rulings.
Certificate titles are the same for everybody, so you can compare notes with other Applicants. Their answers may not be yours. That is the Matter at work, and it is not a fault.
The Bureau refers to your Matter by name now and then. It does not refer to it with any urgency.
